SIBU: The Inland Revenue Board’s ( IRB) Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme has seen 83 taxpayers under various categories in Sarawak declare their incomes since its launch on Nov 3.

IRB chief executive officer Dato Sri Sabin Samitah revealed that the amount of additional taxes and penalty from the 83 taxpayers amounted to RM3.2 million.

“I want to encourage all taxpayers to participate in this voluntary disclosure programme. This is a great offer,” he told reporters during his official visit to IRB Sibu yesterday, adding the offer would end on June 30, 2019.

He said under the programme, taxpayers are subjected to a lower penalty rate of between 10 per cent and 15 per cent of the tax payable, compared to the usual penalty rate of between 80 per cent and 300 per cent.
