MIRI: Police have solved the break-in of the home of Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting with the arrest of eight men yesterday.

The arrest comes just 48 hours after a police report was made on Monday morning following the discovery of the incident.
Sarawak CID chief SAC Denis Leong when contacted said the suspects, aged between 17 and 45, were picked up in several parts of the city between Monday and yesterday.
“The first arrest was made on Monday, while the second and third suspects were nabbed on Tuesday afternoon,” he said.
Leong added the fourth and fifth suspects were caught Tuesday night while inside a car, leading to the seizure of the vehicle along with three televisions.
In a follow-up operation, police swooped on three houses in Kampung Wawasan and Taman Jelita in Taman Tunku, as well as at Mile 6.5 off Jalan Miri-Bintulu, and arrested three more suspects between 4.45pm and 5.45pm yesterday.
The latter three arrests resulted in the recovery of a television, two DVD players and an amplifier.
“With the arrests and recoveries, we consider the case (involving Ting’s house) solved. Nevertheless, we are still probing whether there are more suspects still at large,” said Leong.
When asked if the eight arrested men were also involved in other housebreaking cases, the state CID chief said the suspects were ‘no strangers with lockups’.
