‘Christmas Fun 3.0’ a platform for unity — Organiser
KUCHING: The pre- Christmas and winter solstice celebration, hosted by the Women and Youth sections of Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Pending branch at Vivacity Megamall here recently, could be regarded as being successful in uniting people from diverse racial and religious backgrounds.
Event organising chairwoman Judy Kho expressed her gratitude to everyone who had made this the ‘Christmas Fun 3.0’ a success.
“The purpose of this activity is to encourage people from different races and religions to participate in the programmes, build a united and harmonious society, and also to share the joy with one another,” she said in her opening remarks.
In his speech, guest- ofhonour Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian called upon the youngsters to stay engaged and connected with their families and friends, strive to improve mutual understanding, and also enhance their relationships and friendships instead of spending their days only on technological gadgets.
He also hoped that the youngsters would spend more time with their parents, and not leave them alone or send them to old folks’ homes.
“Treasure the moment, do not wait until it’s too late – then you will regret it. This society needs more care and warmth,” says Dr Sim, who is also SUPP president.
He also advised the people to be more conscious about their health, as well as to do more exercises in order to prevent heart diseases and avoid obesity.
“Malaysian is marked as the ‘ fattest community’ in South East Asia, our diet and lifestyles are the main reasons. Hence, taking care of your life and eating habits, doing more exercises, and maintaining a healthy body and mind should be the major tasks of Malaysians,” he said.
