KUCHING: Naim Group of Companies’ ( Naim) Benefit Live Concerts at Naim Bintulu Paragon this weekend is the perfect kick-off to the Christmas festivities.

The two-night charity event, which aims to raise funds for the needy, will feature Sarawak’s renowned artistes Nading Rhapsody, Jerry Kamit and Zee Avi.

Christmas will not be complete without songs and good music. We have always had great admiration and appreciation for local talents and it will be an honour to have these Sarawak-born artistes who have achieved so much in the international music industry, to perform for us in aid of local charities.

Naim Bintulu regional general manager Abang Mahathir Mohamed in a press release yesterday said music lovers can expect the serenading tunes of avant-garde Borneo ethnic music ensemble Nading Rhapsody on Dec 22 at 8pm while renowned sape player Jerry Kamit and singersongwriter Zee Avi will perform live for the crowd the following day ( Dec 23) at 7.30pm.

“Christmas will not be complete without songs and good music. We have always had great admiration and appreciation for local talents and it will be an honour to have these Sarawak-born artistes who have achieved so much in the international music industry, to perform for us in aid of local charities,” he added in the statement.

He said that these artistes will also be joined by other local bands such as PUAKA, The Craft and The Fentones who will also be ramping up the atmosphere before the benefit concerts begin.

Abang Mahathir also invited the public to check out the ongoing Christmas Charity Bazaar at Naim Street Mall which features 30 stalls offering a wide selection of Christmas-related goodies, handicrafts and delicious food.

The bazaar, which ends on Dec 23, will also see part of its proceeds going to charity.

“Besides the Christmas Charity Bazaar, we hope that the Bintulu community will continue to support our ‘Giving Tree’ campaign which is coming to an end this weekend as well.

“The campaign calls for the public to donate back- to- school supplies, books, clothes and gifts for children. These items can be dropped off at our Sales Gallery from 9am to 6pm during the campaign period,” he said.

Apart from that, Naim will also be organising a blood donation drive on Dec 22 from 9am to 12pm at its mall and urged the public to donate blood for a good cause.

“It is the season of giving after all and for those who wish to donate blood and help replenish supply at our blood bank, this is the best time to do so,” said Abang Mahathir.

Shoppers are also invited to join in the various charitable and festive activities lined up throughout the weekend.

These activities include carolling, choirs, balloon sculpture giveaways, ballet performances and many more.

Santa Claus will also be making his rounds throughout the week, presenting great photo opportunities for families with children.
