Mordi regrets unfriendly attitude of Sarawak govt

-

BAU: Mas Gading Member of Parliament Mordi Bimol regrets the unfriendly attitude of the Sarawak government towards development programmes for the people in his constituency brought by the Pakatan Harapan ( PH) federal government.

He said on the surface the relationship between the state government and federal government looked fine but on the ground it was a totally different scenario.

“For example, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) representatives are not allowed to attend functions together with the PH representatives.

“As you can see in Bau here, the community leaders are not allowed to attend some of the programmes under the federal agencies, for example Fire and Rescue Department ( Bomba),” he said, claiming such act was instructed by Bau District Office.

To make matters worse, the district office would conduct another programme that coincides with the federal agencies programme on the same day, he claimed.

“They (district office) did it on purpose. I am a bit frustrated because most of the programmes are for the village people, not for me.

“I am there to support the programme. It is unfair for the village folk. Just because the relationship between PH and GPS is not good, the village folk are at the losing end,” he said.

He was asked to comment on the relationship between the state government and federal government at his Christmas open house in Kpg Suba Bandar near here yesterday.

Despite all that, he wished to see Mas Gading constituency, stretching from Bau to some parts of Sematan, get clean water supply from the traditional gravity feed system.

“I have my own allocations, the state legislative assemblymen also have their own.

“No matter what, the community leaders have to work with the MPs and the assemblymen,” he stressed, adding he gave out his allocations quietly.

He lamented that some community leaders were afraid to be seen with him.

“Some would not even dare to sit at the same table with me because they do not want to be seen as too close to me, being a PH representative.

“It is very sad because I need a good relationship with them. As long as the projects reach the people, it is good,” he said.
