-

SIBU: SUPP Bukit Assek branch youth chief Joseph Chieng went to the Sunday Market and Tiong Hua Road Wet Market on Sunday to distribute their 2019 calendars to the people.

The calendars were also printed were a list of contact numbers of their leaders and councillors.

“This is the type of community goodwill which we regularly host. During our walkabout on Sunday, we also wished the people a smooth New Year ahead. We are renewing our commitment in our services to the people for next year.”

With the contact numbers of their leaders in the calendar, Chieng hoped the people would not hesitate to contact them when and if they needed help.

He said the calendars were also printed with the contacts of the various governmental departments and agencies. The theme of the calendar is ‘Sarawak First’.

“We hope to awaken the people on the history of Sarawak towards a sense of belonging, putting Sarawak first in our political agenda.”

On Sarawak’s autonomy, he said: “The late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem and current chief minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg were very committed in their work, which the people must fully back.

“We hope the Sarawak government can fulfill their election manifesto on this soonest because Sarawak belongs to Sarawakians.

“We do not need to be managed by the Peninsular Malaysian political parties. It’s like we have been feeding them while we in Sarawak are being pushed to the edge.”

“Of course, political parties in Sarawak are not perfect. But, we note that the religious and racial sentiments here have been stirred since the last parliamentary election.

“Now that the people have awakened to their autonomy rights, we must stand to protect them.”

Those interested to have the calendars can contact their branch office on 084- 313566 at No 52, Lane 1, Lanang Road - opposite Sacred Heart Chinese School.
