ARIANA GRANDE

cancels Vegas show, cites ‘health issues’

-

ARIANA Grande has cancelled a Las Vegas concert due to “health issues,” the singer said on Friday.

The 25-year-old singer, one of the most popular in the United States, was set to perform at The Cosmopolitan hotel on Saturday.

“Vegas, I’m currently working through some health issues and am beyond sorry I won’t be able to see you this weekend,” she wrote on Instagram. “I love you and so look forward to seeing you and making it up to you next year.”

Entertainment website TMZ reported that Grande had bronchitis, citing sources close to the singer.

A representative for Grande was not immediately available for comment.

Grande finished 2018 with her song “Thank U, Next” at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the sixth week. Her year also saw the death of ex-boyfriend and rapper Mac Miller in September and her break up with fiance Pete Davidson in October.

Most recently, Grande made her first late-night appearance since her breakup on the Dec. 18 episode of the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform an updated version of the popular SNL “I Wish It Was Christmas Today” bit.

Grande also attempted to visit Davidson recently at the 30 Rock building in New York City after he posted a troubling note to his Instagram on Dec 17. The post, which has since been deleted, read: “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. I’m doing my best to stay here for you but I actually don’t know how much longer I can last. All I’ve ever tried to do was help people. just remember I told you so.”

“I’m downstairs and I’m not going anywhere if you need anyone or anything,” Grande wrote on Twitter at the time. “I know u have everyone u need and that’s not me, but i’m here too.”

Grande’s concern for Davidson’s well-being is partly rooted in her grief over Miller, who died at age 26 in September of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol.

Earlier this month, during a speech at Billboard’s Women in Music event, Grande described 2018 as “one of the best of her career” and one of the “worst of her life.” She struggled to hold back tears as she talked about the death of Miller and her failed romance with Davidson, among other topics.

In the past, Grande has also been open about the emotional toll the 2017 suicide bombing at her Manchester concert took on her.

Despite the upheaval in her personal life, Grande’s hit “Thank U, Next” became her first single to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song finds her reviewing her past romances with dancer Ricky Alvarez, rapper Big Sean, Miller, and Davidson and in the lyrics, she praises all of them for helping fuel her personal growth.

Grande is nominated at the 2019 Grammy Awards, which will air in February, for her latest album Sweetener. — Agencies
