Cops nab five over spate of housebreaking, theft cases

-

LIMBANG: Police here have solved four theft cases reported since the start of the year with the arrest of five suspects and recovery of stolen items.

District police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the suspects, two of whom are siblings, are believed to be actively involved in housebreaking and theft of vehicle components.

“We believe this group is also behind many other theft cases in Limbang. After they were arrested, they led police to several locations where a number of stolen items were recovered,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

He said police have classified the investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.

The suspects face imprisonment of up to 14 years and liable to a fine if convicted, he added.

In a separate case, Mohd Bukhori disclosed that three jobless men were nabbed last Friday for suspected drug abuse.

He said the trio, aged between 33 and 41, all had previous records for drug abuse.

“The suspects were detained in a house during a raid by Limbang Narcotics Crime Investigation Division personnel. A subsequent urine test found all three to be positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he said.

Police have classified the case under sections 12( 2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
