JKKKs urged to use MRP grants wisely
PAKAN: Longhouse security and development committees (JKKKs) have been urged to make use of their annual minor rural project ( MRP) funds wisely.
Meluan assemblymanRolland Duat gave the advice when he presented MRP grant cheques to JKKKs under Meluan constituency at the community hall here yesterday.
“The grant is meant to help the committee to solve minor problems faced by the people under their charge or to organise meaningful programmes for the benefit of stakeholders,” he explained.
He also reminded the constituents to continue working together with the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) which has pledged to accord special attention toward transforming the rural areas.
Under GPS, the people could rest assured that their wellbeing would be properly taken care of, he said, adding the GPS government had given top priority in implementing basic infrastructure, facilities, utilities and amenities in rural areas towards ensuring the rural people enjoy quality standard of living like their urban counterparts. Nineteen JKKKs received MRP grant cheques amounting to RM250,000 from Rolland during the function.
Among those present were a representative from Pakan District Office SAO Dana Ungki, a representative of Julau district police chief ASP Colony Kiai, Pemanca Tekong Ranggi and local community leaders.
