AAOIFI, Salihin Shariah ink collaboration on Islamic finance education
KUALA LUMPUR: Bahrainbased Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) has signed a collaboration agreement with SALIHIN Shariah Advisory ( Kuala Lumpur) to strengthen the Islamic finance education in Malaysia.
The collaboration will see SHALIHIN Shariah Advisory becoming AAOFI’s education partner to promote its professional fellowship programmes, including the Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA) and Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor programmes.
AAOIFI acting secretarygeneral Omar Mustafa Ansari said the agreement would further develop the industry’s human capital and provide individuals with technical skills, particularly in Islamic accountancy through the CIPA programme.
“We thank SALIHIN Shariah Advisory for their support and collaboration with AAOIFI to promote these professional programmes,” he said in a statement yesteday.
Meanwhile, SALIHIN Shariah Advisory chief executive officer Prof Dr Ahcene Lahsasna said the collaboration would contribute significantly to the enhancement of the quality of Islamic finance education in Malaysia.
“The AAOIFI professional qualifications’ scope covers Islamic accounting, shariah auditing and shariah advisory.
“These professional certificates will complement the existing professional programmes and certificates offered in Malaysia,” he said.
AAOIFI is a leading international not- for- profit organisation and primarily responsible for the development and issuance of standards for the global Islamic finance industry.
It has issued more than 100 standards in the areas of shariah, accounting, auditing, ethics and governance for international Islamic finance.
SALIHIN Shariah Advisory is a registered shariah adviser with the Securities Commission (SC), providing advisory services on all shariah- based products and services regulated by the commission, and qualified to be appointed a corporate shariah adviser. — Bernama
