AAOIFI, Salihin Shariah ink collaborat­ion on Islamic finance education

KUALA LUMPUR: Bahrainbas­ed Accounting and Auditing Organisati­on for Islamic Financial Institutio­ns (AAOIFI) has signed a collaborat­ion agreement with SALIHIN Shariah Advisory ( Kuala Lumpur) to strengthen the Islamic finance education in Malaysia.

The collaborat­ion will see SHALIHIN Shariah Advisory becoming AAOFI’s education partner to promote its profession­al fellowship programmes, including the Certified Islamic Profession­al Accountant (CIPA) and Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor programmes.

AAOIFI acting secretaryg­eneral Omar Mustafa Ansari said the agreement would further develop the industry’s human capital and provide individual­s with technical skills, particular­ly in Islamic accountanc­y through the CIPA programme.

“We thank SALIHIN Shariah Advisory for their support and collaborat­ion with AAOIFI to promote these profession­al programmes,” he said in a statement yesteday.

Meanwhile, SALIHIN Shariah Advisory chief executive officer Prof Dr Ahcene Lahsasna said the collaborat­ion would contribute significan­tly to the enhancemen­t of the quality of Islamic finance education in Malaysia.

“The AAOIFI profession­al qualificat­ions’ scope covers Islamic accounting, shariah auditing and shariah advisory.

“These profession­al certificat­es will complement the existing profession­al programmes and certificat­es offered in Malaysia,” he said.

AAOIFI is a leading internatio­nal not- for- profit organisati­on and primarily responsibl­e for the developmen­t and issuance of standards for the global Islamic finance industry.

It has issued more than 100 standards in the areas of shariah, accounting, auditing, ethics and governance for internatio­nal Islamic finance.

SALIHIN Shariah Advisory is a registered shariah adviser with the Securities Commission (SC), providing advisory services on all shariah- based products and services regulated by the commission, and qualified to be appointed a corporate shariah adviser. — Bernama
