Woman loses handphone in break-in

-

SIBU: A woman was puzzled as to how a thief had managed to break into her single- storey house in Teku Road here yesterday without rousing her three dogs.

The three dogs - two German Shepherds and a Husky - were in the front yard when the thief broke in at 5.15pm, she said.

In an interview yesterday, the woman, in her 50s, said she lost her handphone costing over RM3,000 but what worried her most was that she had stored work-related information in the phone.

She related that she was alerted by a noise before realising there was a thief inside her house.

“I found my bedroom door open and the light in the sitting room was on.”

Feeling something amiss, she called out to her son but got no answer.

“Then, I saw a slim figure in the corridor outside my bedroom running towards the back of the house.”

After that, she ran out to check, only to find a dollar note on the ground outside the kitchen.

She then realised that something was not right because she had placed the note on top of her handphone.

“I ran back to my bedroom and found my handphone beside my bed gone.”

The woman believes that the thief had climbed over the concrete fence and entered the house through a window of an unoccupied bedroom.
