SIBU: The Sibu and Kota Kinabalu branches of the Nirvana Alliance Sdn Bhd have appointed four organisations here to be part of its `Care and Love Plan’.

The four appointed on Wednesday night were Sibu Life Care Society, Enoch Elderly Association Sibu, 611 Bread is Life Christian Fellowship Sibu and Sibu Miao Li Tang Association.

The ` Care and Love Plan’ is designed to cater for the financially disadvantaged families in need of assistance during funeral service.

Nirvana Group’s chief operating officer for East Malaysia Au Kok Wah, said the appointment is for two years and is part of the company’s commitment to give back to the society.

“Through this appointment, we will provide free funeral services. This includes the casket, urn, urn compartment and cremation expenses.

“Of course there are some requirements such as the family’s monthly income must be less than RM1,200 and so forth,” he said during the presentation of appointment letters over dinner at the Good Happiness Restaurant here.

The four appointees are tasked to help those in need to apply for the welfare funeral services. “When and as needed, we’ll increase the number of appointees,” he said.

According to Au, there are currently about 200 urn compartments in Nirvana Sibu Cemetery.
