SIBU: Sibu Kidney Foundation (SKF) and Melilea Malaysia will hold a talk on ‘ Eat To Live’ at Kingwood Hotel here on Jan 13, starting 11.30am.

SKF Board of Trustees chairman Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau said the objective is to create greater awareness among the public the importance of eating healthily.

He expected between 250 and 300 people to attend the talk to be conducted by Melilea Organic Health Living and Environment Protection advocate and lecturer Jasper Chew.

Registration fee is RM20 per person who will be given a door gift each as well as health drink.

There will be other activities to be held such as blood test, free glucose and blood pressure screenings.

“Melilea Malaysia bears the expenses for the talk while proceeds from the registration fees will go to SKF.

“We encourage people to come early because of limited seats,” Lau told a press conference at SKF premises here yesterday.

Melilea Sibu branch manager Ting Ping Toh and SKF manageress Ivy Lau were also present at the press conference.

SKF has been providing dialysis treatment for kidney patients as well as rolling out educational programmes in schools like talks on kidney-related problems.

It believes that prevention is better than cure, and that kidney diseases can be prevented because those prone to kidney diseases are those with hypertension and diabetes.

Hypertension and diabetes can be avoided by practising healthy lifestyle and eating healthy food.

SKF welcomes nongovernmental organisations ( NGOs) and corporate bodies to work together with them to provide educational programmes for the public.

Those interested to attend the talk may call SKF on 084343500.
