MIRI: Public talks on financial planning should be conducted more regularly to increase awareness on the importance of having proper financial management.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin believes that good knowledge of financial planning would enable one to achieve one’s life goals through proper management of finances.

Speaking at the 11th National Mandarin Life Insurance and Financial Planning Summit here yesterday, Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, said a sound financial management would protect one’s wealth from ‘uncertain situation’.

Thus, he felt the need to hold more public talks on financial management.

“Being a premier organisation for life insurance, Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advises ( Namlifa) is a professional body that protects, promotes and even strengthens the critical roles of life insurance industry through sound financial services.

“Beside promoting your products, it is also meaningful to hold more public talks under your corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment,” he said.

He thanked Namlifa for choosing Miri to hold the conference.

He added that since Sarawak is celebrating ‘Visit Sarawak Year’ this year, he wanted the conference participants, especially those from outside Miri, to sample the unique cultures of the local people and get to see the various attractions here.

“Besides attending the conference, I hope that you will take the opportunity to explore places of interest in the city as well as the surrounding areas, particular the world-renowned heritage site of Mulu National Park.”

Namlifa president Lim Kim Poi was also present at the press conference.
