Good Samaritans donate to Home of Santa Clara

-

KUCHING: A group of good Samaritans brought together by social worker Lim Chee Haw kicked off the new year by donating to the Home of Santa Clara, at a retirement home for Catholic nuns at Jalan Airport here.

Lim handed over contributions in the form of rice, oats, sugar and other food items to a representative of the home, Sister Emelda Yen, recently. Lim said differences in religious belief did not stop the group from helping the home, which provides care to elderly nuns, including a few of them in wheel chairs.

“We have helped the Home of Santa Clara several times already. This time, the donation is held in conjunction with the coming Chinese New Year celebration.

“I would like to thank the good Samaritans for responding to my request to assist although they may not be of the same religion and race as the recipients,” said Lim, a retired marine police personnel who now devotes his life to charity work.

He thanked Law and family from Foochow Road No 2, Fook Lai Construction in MJC Batu Kawa, Hii and Chia from Jalan Matang, and others for their assistance in this latest charity act. On a related matter, Lim said he could be contacted at 082248153 or 016- 8070388 to assist poor famiiies who require coffins for the funeral of a departed family member. He said cash donations from good Samaritans are ‘parked’ at a coffin shop here to be used whenever a genuine request was received.

So far, such assistance have been rendered to families in the rural areas including Sadir in Puncak Borneo, Sungai Apong here, Murud Plaman near Serian, Sinjog near Siburan, Sabang in Simunjan, Tanah Merah at Mile 27 of Kuching- Serian Road, and Mantung Marau in Serian.

He also reminded the public that he can only be reached through his fixed line and mobile phone, as he does not have Facebook, WeChat or any other social media account.
