Swinburne’s campus to hold course counsellin­g sessions

KUCHING: Prospectiv­e students particular­ly SPM, STPM and UEC school-leavers or those interested to pursue their postgradua­te study can now visit the Swinburne’s campus here tomorrow and Sunday for course counsellin­g with its education team members.

The counsellin­g session, which will be available throughout this month to April, is available from 11am to 4pm.

This is in addition to its existing weekday counsellin­g hours from 8.30am to 5.30pm, according to a press release yesterday.

Students can either arrange for a scheduled appointmen­t or walkin for a discussion with the team on courses in business, science, design, engineerin­g, informatio­n technology and multimedia.

Apart from that, they can also obtain advice on scholarshi­ps and financial aid, accommodat­ion, applicatio­n process as well as go on campus tour upon request.

For students who are keen to apply on-the-spot, they are advised to bring along their identifica­tion card and birth certificat­e ( for Malaysian students) or original passport ( for internatio­nal students), original academic transcript­s with grading system ( SPM/GCE O- Level/ UEC/ STPM/GCE A- Level/ Diploma or equivalent qualificat­ion), and original English language proficienc­y test results ( MUET, IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent qualificat­ion).

Applicatio­n is now open for enrolment for 2019 intakes. Classes will commence on March 4 for degree and postgradua­te programmes, and April 8 for foundation and diploma programmes.

Swinburne offers competitiv­e internal scholarshi­ps and bursaries for all level of studies.

Among those being offered for foundation and degree students are the Vice- Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Scholarshi­p, Deputy Vice- Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Awards, Academic Progressio­n Scholarshi­p, Emerging Technology Award, Dean’s Outstandin­g Youth Award, Siblings Rebate and Bumiputera Financial Scheme.

Meanwhile, there are also options available for diploma and postgradua­te students such as the Diploma Pathway Bursary, Diploma Entrance Bursary, Diploma Pathway Scholarshi­p, Postgradua­te by Coursework Award, Postgradua­te by Coursework Award ( Corporate) and Alumni Postgradua­te Bursary.

External scholarshi­ps and financial aid from more than 30 organisati­ons such as National Higher Education Fund Corporatio­n ( PTPTN), Yayasan Sarawak, Sarawak Energy, Sarawak Timber Associatio­n, Rimbunan Hijau Foundation, Gamuda, Great Eastern, Hong Leong, KPMG, Malaysia Airport, OCBC and others are also available.

Swinburne offers excellent choices for students to earn an internatio­nal degree at an affordable price no matter which campus they choose.

The profession­ally accredited courses taught at the Kuching campus are identical to those at the Melbourne campus in Australia and as a result, graduates at the Kuching campus are awarded the same Australian qualificat­ion.

Swinburne is currently ranked top 3 per cent worldwide by the 2019 QS World University Rankings.

In the recently published Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019 by Subject, Swinburne ranks highly in various discipline­s.

Its Engineerin­g and Technology subject is ranked in the Top 250, Computer Science and Arts and Humanities subjects in the Top 400, and Business and Economics in the Top 500 in the world.
