-

KUCHING: Property developers Berkeley Group and Savills ( Malaysia) Sdn Bhd are set to launch Phase 2 of Snow Hill Wharf in Birmingham, UK at The Westin, Kuala Lumpur on Jan 19 and 20.

According to a press release, Savills is launching the second phase on behalf of Berkeley Group’s newest division St Joseph, due to overwhelming response in Snow Hill Wharf’s Phase 1 recently.

The luxury 404- apartment complex in Birmingham’s Gun Quarter is developed by St Joseph and property sales launch for its Phase 2 in Asia Pacific will be held on Jan 19.

Savills will release Phase 2 which comprises two new blocks namely The Colmore and The Fazeley priced from £ 198,000 (approximately RM1.05 million) onwards.

Phase 2 includes a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments - offering picturesque views of the city and its growing skyline.

Aside from the uniquely designed apartments, the 288,000 sq ft development will also feature three beautifully landscaped podium gardens overlooking Birmingham and the Fazeley Canals - the same waterways that supported the UK’s industrial revolution.

Epitomising this new standard of luxury city living are a host of amenities, including a gymnasium with a sauna and steam room, a luxury residents’ lounge and cinema room and exclusive access to a 24-hour concierge and security service – enabling residents to enjoy life in a place of tranquillity.

The renowned Berkeley Group introduced and released Snow Hill Wharf Phase 1 in August last year where two blocks namely The Barker and The Lancaster enjoyed brisk sales and was sold off in less than two months with an attractive price starting from £ 189,995 (approximately RM1 million) onwards.

The Belmont of Phase 3 (final) will be launched at a later date.

St Joseph head of sales and marketing director Tim Ridges said Snow Hill Wharf is a development of unrivalled quality that will create a new community in the historic Gun Quarter of the UK’s second city.

“Birmingham is a property market on the rise and represents a strategic priority for Berkeley Group. By reshaping its residential offering, we aim to attract more people to this great city - a hotbed of investment boasting very strong rental yields and capital growth.”

Snow Hill Wharf has brought new levels of attention to Birmingham city’s property market and prices offer relative affordability when compared to London.

Savills reports that average residential prices per sq ft in Birmingham currently sit between £ 300 and £ 450 - well below those recorded in the capital, where prices frequently move above £ 1000, making the city an attractive proposition for both owner-occupiers and those looking to invest.

Meanwhile, the Savills Malaysia Team visited the project site in Birmingham in August last year and were impressed with its strategic location near the city centre and fronting onto the beautiful classic Fazeley water canals.

Savills Malaysia managing director Datuk Paul Khong pointed out that Birmingham has attracted lots of foreign investors, being the second largest city in the UK with 41.8 million visitors in 2017 and the ‘Youngest City in Europe’ with 40 per cent population under 25.

“Snow Hill Wharf Phase 1 has been a major sell- out and lots of Asian buyers from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc. and even our fellow Malaysians have already invested here in 2018,” he said.

Snow Hill Wharf will be completed in 2021 just in time for the next Commonwealth Games 2022 where Birmingham is the host city.
