Industry players need to devise long-term programmes for SME benefits

-

KUALA LUMPUR: More industry players need to step forward with long-term programmes to help small and medium enterprises ( SMEs) become digitalised and not merely computerised.

Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Redzuan Yusof said SMEs must be fully prepped and primed for the fourth industry revolution ( Industry 4.0), if they wished to remain competitive in the industry.

“The government welcomes industry leaders such as Fuji Xerox to support and partner with the ministry in structured programmes that can promote the adoption of the digital economy among SMEs,” he said at the launch of Fuji Xerox’s 14 new models of digital colour multifunction printers yesterday. With the concept of “Smart Work Gateway for Digital Transformation”, these new series aim to help Malaysian companies, especially SMEs to accelerate growth, productivity and efficiency in the digital economy.

Meanwhile, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (Malaysia operation) president Mark Tan said with the exponential of technology development, organisations needed to evolve to address the ever changing business landscapes.

“Digital technology is providing opportunities for companies to enhance business processes and deliver products and services that might have been unthinkable even just a few years ago. With the right digital transformation approach, any company or even new start up can be the “game changer” in their respective industry,” he said.

Realising the importance of this crucial building block, Tan said Fuji Xerox has been envisioned to support the government’s initiative for digital transformation, especially in the SME sector. — Bernama
