PAS member lodges police report over ‘fake urine test result’

-

SIBU: A Sibu PAS member arrested for allegedly criticising four DAP lawmakers in a Facebook posting lodged a police report here yesterday afternoon over a fake urine test conducted on him.

Mohamad Asfia Haris, a 40year-old tahfiz school manager, said he lodged the police report because he was remanded for four days without cause and his reputation tarnished by the police.

“I will take civil action to seek compensation. I am seeking the police and Sibu police chief to issue a formal apology to me within seven days starting today (Jan 12) in view that my reputation had been tarnished by the police for stating that I tested postive for ‘dadah’.

“I hope investigation into this report will be taken swiftly,” he said at a press conference after lodging the police report.

Mohamad Asfia is also seeking media outlets such as Malaysiakini and The Star to apologise for carrying the police statement that he was tested positive for dadah which had demoralised him, his family, my political party and his tahfiz school.

He stated that while he was on remand on Jan 6, a police inspector named Kong told him that his (the former) urine sample taken was found positive for dadah.

He was released on police bail on Jan 7 and on the advice of his legal counsel, he went for a new urine test at a private laboratory here on Jan 11.

The result obtained proved negative, Asfia pointed out.

He is currently under investigation in connection with two offences under Section 223 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities, and Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication.
