Dr Annuar: RM3.6 million projects for Nangka this year
SIBU: Three projects costing about RM3.6 million will be implemented in Nangka state constituency this year, said Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee.
The Nangka assemblyman said these projects comprised improvement works to the drainage in Kampung Nangka and Kampung Datu Baru and erecting a roof over the futsal court in Kampung Nangka.
“The drainage project for Kampung Nangka cost RM2.3 million and covers the whole stretch of earth drain there. The drains will be covered to become a walkway for the public. This will definitely benefit the people and ensure their safety as they no longer need to walk along the roadside.
“That aside, it will allow water to be drained out easily to avoid the situation of stagnant water,” he told reporters here yesterday after a briefing session with Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) attended by council deputy chairperson Rogayah Jamain and engineer Abdul Rahman.
Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health, revealed that the funding is from Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) being part of the road improvement works.
On the drainage project costing about RM1 million at Kampung Datu Baru, he pointed out the poor drainage condition necessitated the improvement works. The poor condition of the drainage stemmed from soil erosion and has affected the fencing of some houses there.
Dr Annuar said the state government has set aside RM1 million through SMC for the improvement works.
On the futsal court roofing project, he said RM300,000 has been allocated from the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) fund.
“The approval (for the project) comes with a condition – once all (the documentations) have been submitted and approved – a roof will be constructed over the court in Kampung Nangka.”
On the drainage projects, he hoped that SMC will implement them section by section to avoid obstructing traffic flow and causing inconvenience to the public.
“I also hope these projects will commence before March this year,” Dr Annuar said.
