New and varied operation hours for UTCs nationwide

KUCHING: The Ministry of Finance has come up with new and varied operation hours for the Urban Tranformat­ion Centre (UTC) across the country, effective Jan 22.

These latest operation hours are decided following feedback from the ground, said a statement yesterday. Such change of operation hours is necessary as an initiative of the government to cut down on its expenditur­e.

Despite the change, all UTCs remain open seven days a week except public holidays.

The ministry said the operation hours of UTCs will be reviewed from time to time to ensure that the people’s needs are met while the government could manage its resources more efficientl­y.

Based on a table in the statement, UTC Shah Alam, Selangor; UTC Keramat, Kuala Lumpur and UTC Seremban, Negeri Sembilan open from 1pm to 10pm (close 7pm-8pm) Monday-Thursday, 2.45pm to 10pm (Friday) and 8am to 5pm (Saturday-Sunday).

UTC Alor Setar, Kedah; UTC Johor Bahru, Johor; UTC Kota Bharu, Kelantan and UTC Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu open from 1pm to 10pm (SundayThur­sday – close 7pm-8pm) and 8am to 5pm (Friday-Saturday).

In Sabah, UTC Kota Kinabalu, UTC Keningau, UTC WP Labuan and UTC Tawau open from 8am to 5pm (MondaySund­ay with Friday Prayer 11.30am-2pm).

In Sarawak, UTC Kuching, UTC Miri and UTC Sibu open from 8am to 5pm (Monday- Sunday with Friday Prayer 11.45am-2.15pm).

UTC Kangar, Perlis; UTC Sungai Petani, Kedah; UTC Ipoh, Perak; UTC Pudu Sentral, Kuala Lumpur; UTC Sentul, Kuala Lumpur; UTC Bandaraya Melaka, Melaka; UTC Pasir Gudang, Johor and UTC Kuantan, Pahang open from 8am to 5pm (Monday-Sunday with Friday Prayer 12.15pm-2.45pm).
