Fulfil promises made to Sri Aman folk, Sarawak government urged

-

KUCHING: The Sarawak government is urged to fulfil promises made by its leaders for the people in Sri Aman even during the time when the ruling parties were still in Barisan Nasional ( BN).

DAP Sri Aman chief Leon Jimat Donald said one of the promises made was to build a golf course and a floating jetty to spur business in Sri Aman through tourism-related activities.

He pointed out that a state minister had made such promise when visiting Sri Aman in 2013.

Leon further said another promise eagerly awaited by Sri Aman folks to materialise is the construction of a bridge from Pasir Panas and Lidong to link Sri Aman and Betong which will stimulate business growth in both divisional centres.

However, nothing had been done nor was there any follow-up by the local elected representatives from Sri Aman, he added.

“It seems that GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) or previously BN are only good at making promises.

“It is this type of leadership which has failed the people of Sri Aman due to the false promises,” he said when officiating at an event in Taman Sri Jaya hall recently.

Leon, who is also DAP Sarawak committee member, said the time has come for a new leadership in the state as well in Sri Aman.

“We have been economically overlooked many times, we must change this GPS state government to a PH state government in order for Sri Aman to prosper,” he emphasised.

During the function, Leon, on behalf of DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, handed over a grant to the development and security committee (JKKK) of Taman Sri Jaya.

The grant is from Chong in his capacity as Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.
