Badminton club appoints Dr Rundi as patron, elects 2019-2020 office bearers

KUCHING: Kelab Badminton Kenyalang ( KBK) has appointed Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom as its patron.

During its annual general meeting ( AGM) at Kampung Tematu here on Saturday, KBK president Petrus Ngalih Tingi said Dr Rundi was among several ministers and elected representa­tives who have been supporting KBK financiall­y and morally.

Petrus revealed that Dr Rundi had presented the club with a RM15,000- government grant and another RM15,000 to be disbursed in May this year, for its annual programmes.

Since its inception in 2017 KBK has been very active in organising tournament­s and badminton courses particular­ly for the youths as its contributi­on towards developing the sport in the state.

The AGM elected office bearers are for the term 2019- 2020.

Petrus was returned unopposed as president.

Others returned unopposed to their respective posts were Diana Empeni Lang ( deputy president), Anthony Ugor Nili ( secretary), Warren Bunsu Martin Gana secretary).

The newly- elected treasurer and assistant treasurer are Maurice Medan and Esther Ambrose Jumin, respective­ly.

The committee members are Riyis Rayid, Ellyza Ulat Jampong, Daby Abang and Ruvi Christina Akat.

The associatio­n reappointe­d Churchill Edward Drem as advisor and Rommy Rijun and Michael Boyek as internal auditors.

When closing the AGM, Churchill urged KBK leaders to look for more sponsors as ( assistant without adequate funds, none of its annual programmes can run smoothly.

He commented that KBK is now a well- known and organised NGO outfit and therefore, it is only fair that it be assisted by various sectors.
