Road contractors told to be mindful of water mains

-

BAU: Contractors of the Pan Borneo Highway doing the stretch near here are urged to take extra precaution with regards to the water mains.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Jinep, in making the call, said there were frequent cases of water interruption in Bau due to the relocation of the water mains, which has not been deligently carried out by the contractors.

He said the people of Bau were complaining of frequent water interuptions in the area due to the contractors’ negligence.

“I am speaking on behalf of the people of Bau about the frequent water interruption.

“It is thus hoped that the contractors carry out the relocation of the water mains more deligently.”

He added that the contractors should first relocate the pipes before starting the digging.

“The contractors should be more sensitive towards the people in the area because they ( people) are tired of the frequent interruption.”

Henry hoped that the relevant authorities are more proactive and to take appropriate measures to avoid any recurrence.

Earlier, Henry was briefed on the nine water supply pojects in the area, costing about RM130 million, which would be completed end of next year.

Later, he visited Rimet Nyumbib, 55, at Kpg Serasot, whose house was gutted by fire on Feb 16.

Henry donated RM15,000 for the building materials, while the Welfare Department and the villagers also chipped in.
