Papagomo released on police bail

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth Executive Committee member Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris or better known as Papagomo, who was remanded for three days to assist in investigat­ions into the alleged assault of Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, was released on police bail yesterday.

Kajang deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Abdullah said Papagomo was released after the police completed investigat­ions.

“The investigat­ion papers will be referred to the Public Prosecutor soon for further instructio­ns,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Papagomo, 36, was remanded for three days from Monday to assist in the investigat­ions over the alleged assault of Syed Saddiq in Kajang last Saturday.

In the 10.45am incident, the Muar MP alleged that he was attacked by a group of opposition supporters after the nomination process for the Semenyih by- election at the Seri Cempaka Hall of the Kajang Municipal Council ( MPKJ).

A 22- second video clip of the incident, currently making its rounds on social media, showed Syed Saddiq, heavily guarded and escorted out by policemen.

Meanwhile, Mohd Sabri said police had received 19 police reports since campaignin­g began on Saturday.

Three investigat­ion papers were opened involving offences under Section 24 B ( 3) of the Elections Act 1954. — Bernama
