Informatio­n Department holds briefing on Budget 2019 in Sibu

SIBU: The onus falls on the Informatio­n Department to help the government in its efforts to raise public awareness of Budget 2019, which was tabled last year.

In stating this, Sibu Division Informatio­n Department officer Ivy Stephen Sekai points out that it is the responsibi­lity of the department to disseminat­e informatio­n to the public through platforms such as seminars or briefings.

“This is to ensure that the people, including government officials, would take note and understand the essence of Budget 2019, which was tabled last year,” she said at the opening ceremony of a ‘ Budget 2019 Briefing’ conducted at RTM Sibu auditorium recently, which gathered around 80 participan­ts representi­ng various local government agencies and department­s.

In addition, Ivy said that the briefing here was the second after the first session held in Serian on Jan 29.

“We hope that the participan­ts would understand better the use of allocation­s and expenditur­es, as announced (under Budget 2019), meant for the benefit of the people,” she added.

The briefing was jointly conducted by Serian District Informatio­n officer George Humprey Dolek and Samarahan District Informatio­n officer Alfred Jaho.

Deputy Sibu police chief Supt Martin Koo and Sarawak Broadcasti­ng Department Sibu station manager Mohd Zamani Ibrahim were among those attending the session.
