Lawas Tua Pek Kong temple to get RM50,000 grant

-

LAWAS: The Lawas Tua Pek Kong Temple will receive an RM50,000 grant for its upgrading project from the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

Lawas member of parliament Datuk Henry Sum Agong announced this at the Huang Er Ta Shi Deity birthday celebration recently, which included a procession and concert.

Henry urged the Chinese community here to continue working closely with GPS in all fields, particularly in developing Sarawak.

“All races working together will retain harmony and peace in this state, and this conducive climate will attract investors to come,” he said.

He pointed out that the sluggish economy at present requires more creativity initiative.

As such, the GPS government has decided to inject funds by investing in infrastructure and amenities to ultimately benefit the people, he said.

Henry urged the public not to be influenced by external politics from Peninsular Malaysia.

He also called on the Pakatan Harapan federal government to resume the Lawas Hospital project, which it has decided to put under review, and to implement the other planned federal projects here. Penghulu Dennis Liaw, who represented the Chinese community in Lawas, thanked the Sarawak government, particularly Henry and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, for the many contributions to the community.

“They have served well irrespective of the racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds of the communities in Lawas,” he said.
