Rep impressed by multi-talented rural pupils
MARUDI: Many rural pupils have inherent talents and qualities that could be nurtured and polished in order for them to excel not only at school level, but also at the state or even national levels.
Mulu assemblyman Dato Gerawat Gala made this observation at the end of the five-day Baram District Primary School Sports Council (MSSR) Sports Carnival 2019 here yesterday.
The sports meet gathered 528 pupils representing five zones – Tutoh Apoh, Ulu Baram, Central Baram, Lower Baram and Tinjar.
Gerawat noted that some of the pupil athletes not only broke the meet’s records, but were also talented in cultural performances and singing.
“The athletes created a total of 24 new records in the MSSR meet; this shows a lot of talents among these rural pupils who can and should be nurtured in order to make them future champions at state and even national-level championships,” he said.
