MIRI: More than 50 members of Junior Chamber International (JCI) from all over Sarawak had a fruitful weekend at the Area Sarawak Academy (ASA) held at Sumiran Eco- Camp, Kuching recently.

Organised by JCI Kuching, the 3day camp focuses on team building through various training and team building activities.

“It was very motivational for all participants as it inspired us through various activities that really help us grow as a person and as a team,” said JCI Lutong president Voon Jaan Lieu in a press release recently.

Among the activities were indoor and outdoor training courses promoting interactions between team members, while tapping and honing the leadership skill of the members.

Voon who was elected during JCI Lutong’s 49th AGM, led the JCI Lutong team to the training camp. The delegates also comprised vice president Bong Hui Rou, secretary general Leslie Lau, Commission director Cheu Teck Kee, past president Kueh Sze Ling and past president Huang Hui Chen.

JCI Lutong delegates stood out during the training, with Cheu Teck Kee successfully recognised and won the most outstanding ‘academian’.

“I am grateful to the new directors for their trust in me, allowing me the privilege of carrying the responsibility of managing JCI Lutong.

“JCI Lutong will focus our spotlight on community services and education, and uniting members to work together to better service the community.

“We strive to inspire and anticipate the potential of each member to become a community leader.

“Thus, we will continue to organise and participate in various activities that are conducive to personal, social and business development as well as international affairs,” said Voon.

Voon also hopes to tap and exploit the members’ potential while nurturing more young people to break out of their shell.
