MACC has opened six investigation papers on Penang undersea tunnel project

-

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC) has opened six investigation papers on Penang’s undersea tunnel project since 2017.

In a statement yesterday, MACC revealed that the first investigation paper was opened in July 2017 while five more were opened in January last year.

“A total of five investigation papers have been completed and referred to the deputy public prosecutor.

“Three of them have been returned to the MACC for further investigation, while the other two are still in the deputy public prosecutor’s office.

“The rest are under MACC’s probes,” the commission said in a statement issued following the investigation of the undersea tunnel case that was being raised recently.

Blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin, in a series of articles posted in a portal, claimed that Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and four other Penang state government exco members received a bribe related to the undersea tunnel project.

Raja Petra claimed that the exposure was obtained from MACC’s investigation papers on the RM6.3 billion tunnel construction case.

Lim, in his reaction to Raja Petra’s allegations, said the claim was ridiculous and baseless and deliberately aimed to humiliate him. — Bernama
