Back-to-back polls losses PH’s own doing, says Penguang
MIRI: The back-to-back losses suffered by Pakatan Harapan ( PH) in the Cameron Highlands and Semenyih by- elections were caused by the coalition being unable to fulfil promises made in the 14th General Election.
Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil said voters generally felt let down by the number of ‘ U- turns’ by PH and took to the polls to let their feelings be known.
“The losses in the two by- elections were expected and due to their ( PH) own doing.
“Many of the promises made in the last general election have not been fulfilled; there seems to be more talking, complaining and fault-finding instead of actual work,” he said when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.
The Marudi assemblyman added the inexperience shown by PH in terms of government procedures and machineries, coupled with a lack of constructive and forward-thinking ideas, made the coalition look more like political populists as opposed to political practitioners out to help the people.
He went on to claim that the results in Cameron Highlands and Semenyih could be said to ref lect the sentiment of Sarawakians who are not impressed with the federal administration.
“That is why Sarawakians need to determine their own destiny through the existing political infrastructure of GPS ( Gabungan Parti Sarawak),” he said.
