Life in Kpg Betanak now much better due to RTP – Penghulu
DARO: The rural transformation programme ( RTP) has brought much needed development to Kampung Betanak, according to Penghulu Azmi Mahji.
When visited by Borneo Post Adventure Team ( BAT) journalists during their fifth day of adventure into Sarawak’s rural areas, Azmi shared that the villagers now enjoy stable electricity and water supply besides other developments.
“Since the establishment of RTP in 2015, the development projects, especially roads construction at the village, have brought convenience to the villagers here,” said Azmi, who is also the Penghulu for Kampung Penuai and Kampung Penibong here.
“Now, vehicles can be driven into the village and we do not have to cross the river by boat. Before all this development, it took us around six hours to get to Sibu using boat,” he said.
“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Sarawak government led by Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) for paying close attention to the needs and welfare of the village,” he said.
He also thanked Semop assemblyman Abdullah Saidol and Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab for working hard in assisting the development of the village.
Recently, Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi revealed that the RM19.3 million coastal road project linking Kampung Tekajong, Kampung Salah Kecil and Kampung Penuai is expected to be completed by May 2020.
