Rep plans to build more multi-purpose halls
MARUDI: Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil plans to have multi-purpose halls built across this state constituency, where he is the assemblyman.
He stated this at the closing of the annual general meeting (AGM) of the parent-teacher association ( PTA) of SK Sungai Peking in Tinjar near here recently, where he also declared open the primary school’s new multipurpose hall.
According to him, this school facility was among a number of Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) projects for Marudi approved by him last year.
It is learnt that the SK Sungai Peking hall was built at a cost of RM196,000.
“Other RTP projects (approved in 2018) are ceiling works on SMK Tinjar hall costing RM318,000, ceiling works on SK Long Lapok hall costing RM265,000, and also a RM318,000 multi-purpose hall at SK Sungai Entulang.
“I’m happy to report that all these projects have been completed.
“For this year, I plan to build more community halls in Marudi under my RTP grant,” said Penguang.
On a separate subject, the assistant minister called upon parents to be involved in their children’s education by encouraging them to strive towards excellence, both academically and in cocurriculum.
“Parents should always be ready to invest in their children’s education.
“This is possible. I came from a poor family, but through hard work and efforts, I succeeded in my education, up to obtaining my PhD,” he shared.
Later, Penguang announced an allocation of RM10,000 from his Minor Rural Project ( MRP) grant for SK Sungai Peking PTA.
SK Sungai Peking headmaster Siew Choon Weng and Sarawak administrative officer for Marudi, Marliney Igil were also present.
