KAPIT: SMK Kapit recently welcomed Special Branch officer Insp Mackey Hirano Anyut as its liaison officer under the ‘Jom Ke Sekolah’ programme.

The programme, a joint effort between the Education Ministry and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), would see liaison officers visiting their designated schools once a month and give advice on matters pertaining to student’s discipline. During a special assembly to introduce its liaison officer, SMK Kapit principal Aslinda Mohamad Nor said Mackey’s presence would further help in their effort to provide students with a holistic education.

“I wish to welcome Insp Mackey to our school.

“His presence here is to advise us on student’s discipline, and I hope all of us would work together to ensure the smooth implementation of this ‘Jom Ke Sekolah’ programme,” she said.

Mackey, in his speech, said the programme aimed to provide a safe, secure and conducive environment for students to learn, and also for teachers to teach.

He hoped the programme would inculcate positive behaviour and discipline in students; thus allowing them to fully concentrate on their studies.

In conjunction with the launch, the school also set up a ‘1 School, 1 Police Officer’ counter to display important notices and activities under the programme.
