Chupa Chups back on MotoGP track with Spanish ace Lorenzo
KUALA LUMPUR: The iconic Chupa Chups daisy logo is set to return to the tracks of the World Motorcycle Championship embellishing the helmet of one of the greatest champions of all time Jorge Lorenzo.
The Spaniard, who hold five titles in the world championship, will wear the helmet with the Chupa Chups logo during the 2019 and 2020 World Championships, first- off the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix on March 10.
“I could not resist the temptation to show off my new Shark helmet, showcasing the legendary Chupa Chups daisy logo, right from the start of the pre- season tests,” he said in a statement.
“Motorcycling isn’t just sacrifice, passion and commitment, it’s also having fun and Chupa Chups is a fun brand. My passion for motorcycling dates back to childhood and Chupa Chups, like motorbiking, is part of my childhood fun, a memory that has been part of many adventures and achievements and that it’s still present nowadays,” he added.
Chupa Chups lollipop will also accompany Lorenzo every time he climbs on to the podium.
It started way back in 1999. His helmet was ‘signed’ Chupa Chups, accompanying him through the early years of his career in both the 125cc and 250cc class, up until 2008 when he raced his first championship in the 500cc class.
He won the 250cc championship in 2006 and 2007, and the premier class MotoGP titles in 2010, 2012 and 2015.
“Al l the Best from Chupa Chups, Jorge! Forever Fun!,” the statement added.
Chupa Chups is a popular Spanish brand of confectionary sold in over 150 countries in the world. The logo was originally designed by Spanish art ist Salvador Dali in 1969.
