Anna Sue crowned ‘Sarawak Designer of the Year’
KUCHING: Anna Sue was crowned ‘Sarawak Designer of the Year’ during the Alta Moda Sarawak (AMS) 2019 Gala Night Finale on Saturday.
Hafiz Carlson and Najla Shoes impressed the panel of judges and brought home ‘Sarawak Emerging Talent’ and ‘Sarawak Outstanding Fashion Entrepreneur’ awards respectively.
They each received gifts worth RM2,000 from Borneo Medispa and RM1,200 from Powerlooks Global during a ceremony held at the old State Legislative Assembly Complex in Petra Jaya here.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who was the guest of honour at the event, handed out the gifts to the winners.
Among those present were Abang Johari’s wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan and AMS chairperson Datin Esther Mujan Balan.
AMS 2019 themed ‘Shine Bright Like A Diamond’ featured a total of 21 designers from March 7 to 9.
The designers are Annanasa by Sher Lo, Anna Sue, Ben Nazry, Borneo Native, Bon Zainal, Erwan Asbor Touch, Gavroche by Arzmy Hargreaves, Hafiz Carlson, Kaftans by India, Latip’s Collections and Lim Kok Wing Institute of Creative Technology.
The others are Lentera Astana, Melor by Melinda Omar, Najla, Paul Carling, Unimas, SAB2 by Sabrina Bujang, Sereni & Shentel, Tom Abang Saufi, Von Jolly Couture and Langkawi Hub.
AMS aims to set the path as a high profile fashion platform in the city.
It serves as an avenue to bring together talented, young and established Sarawakian fashion designers.
AMS prides itself on being the pioneer defining authority in Borneo’s fashion industry as well as to create a new landscape for Sarawak’s tourism.
