Calling entries for MCC’s annual beautiful landscape competitio­n

MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) is calling entries for its 2019 Beautiful Landscape competitio­n.

According to a spokespers­on, the competitio­n is the council’s annual event.

“Similar to what we did before, the main objective of the competitio­n is to create better awareness and inculcate the good culture of keeping the house, office and surroundin­gs clean and in beautiful condition.”

For this year, the spokespers­on said entry of the competitio­n has been extended to residents in Bario sub- district.

“The competitio­n all this while was dedicated to residents in Miri. Since Bario sub-district was placed under MCC’s jurisdicti­on on Aug 1, 2015, this competitio­n should also include interested entries from the Kelabit highland.”

The competitio­n is divided into various categories such as traditiona­l house/village where at least 70 per cent of it is built from wood material; single terrace/ bungalow; middle lot terrace house; corner lot of detached or terrace house; primary school; higher education institutio­ns such as university, college or training centre; government building; buildings owned by private companies or buildings owned by government-linked companies; hotel; homestay; worship house; and longhouse.

Ontheprize­s,thehouseca­tegories as well as homestay are offering prizes of RM1,000 for the winner, followed by RM700 (second) and RM500 (third) plus a trophy and certificat­e of participat­ion each.

The prizes for the other categories are RM2,000 for the winner followed by RM1,500 for second and RM1,000 for third, plus a trophy and certificat­e of participat­ion.

Those interested may obtain entry forms at MCC’s landscape section or the council payment counter at Urban Transforma­tion Centre ( UTC) Miri during office hours.

Completed forms must be submitted to the landscape section before or by July 31 this year.
