Nomination­s for JCI TOYM award now open

SIBU: Nomination­s for the Junior Chamber Internatio­nal (JCI) Ten Outstandin­g Young Malaysians (TOYM) award are now open with the closing date on May 31.

JCI national vice president Emily Bong at a press conference here yesterday said that nomination­s should be submitted to toym. jcikuching@ gmail.com.

TOYM 2019 Award presentati­on ceremony will be held on Sept 14 in Kuching.

“Nomination form may be downloaded from www. JCIMalaysi­a.cc/TOYM. This is the first time Kuching is hosting the event, and I really hope that more people from Sarawak will participat­e.

“Previously, we received about 100 nomination­s every year. We hope to receive no fewer than 150 nomination­s this year,” she added.

Only those aged between 18 and 40 may be nominated for the award.

For the record, Sarawak hosted the event only once – in Sibu in 2016.

Meanwhile, Sibu Municipal Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King who also attended the press conference, said TOYM award is to give recognitio­n to young Malaysians for their dedication to their profession­s and outstandin­g achievemen­ts in various undertakin­gs.

“TOYM event is a good platform to give them the due recognitio­n,” he added.

Tiong said the award also inspired and motivated young Malaysians to scale greater heights in their undertakin­gs which bring positive impact for community developmen­t.
