Bintulu teachers attend rugby 7s coaching course

BINTULU: Ten teachers and coaches from schools in Bintulu Division attended a coaching workshop on rugby sevens at the Bintulu Vocational College from March 9-10.

The workshop was organised by the Sarawak Sports Corporatio­n ( SSC) and the Sarawak State Sports Council ( MSNS).

It was conducted by Sarawak head coach Nacani Seniu from MSNS, strength and conditioni­ng coach Nathaniel Tan, strength and conditioni­ng unit and sports developmen­t officer Mohamad Amirul Zaini.

Amirul said the workshop was aimed at the uniformity of the technical and tactical aspects of the game so that players from the different regions in Sarawak will apply the same way of playing.

“The workshop stressed on uniformity as regards to the technical and tactical aspect of the game.

“It is vital that players when called up for centralise­d training will apply the same technical and tactical playing styles.

“We want it to be similar so that all the players from the different divisions will not face any disruption­s to the game,” he stated.

According to Nacani , the participan­ts were provided with the platform to upgrade themselves on various developmen­ts of the game.

Also during the event , 19 athletes from Bintulu underwent a fitness and conditioni­ng test. The workshop is the first of its kind to be organised with the next such courses to be held in the beginning of April in Miri, end of April in Kuching and Sibu in May.
