SMK Merbau achieves improved SPM results
MIRI: SMK Merbau, Miri achieved impressive results in the recently released SPM 2018 examination.
A spokesperson for the school said the overall passing percentage was 89.13 per cent compared to 87.31percent last year.
SMK Merbau was among the five schools in the state having 10 top scorers. The other schools were SMK Deshon, Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang, SMK Chung Hua, and SMK Agama Tun Ahmad Zaidi.
“The ten top scorers obtaining straight As are Allister Daniel Linggong, Kevin Yok, Liew Jien Jie, Ng Yi Van, Alicecia Jantan, Annriza Teo, Evinie Nickson, Ismanurathirah Kep, Salvia Bitang Joanes and Vikie Edward.
“They are among 460 candidates from our school who sat for the SPM 2018. Only Marcus Chan Jun Hao obtained 8As while 20 candidates obtained 7A, thirteen others obtained 6A and nineteen obtain 5A,” said the teacher to The Borneo Post yesterday
SMK Merbau achieved an improved School Average Grade (GPS) of 4.82 last year compared to 4.85 in 2017.
All candidates must pass in Bahasa Malaysia and History to qualify for the SPM certificates.
Subjects which achieved 100% passes were Geography, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Additional Mathematics, Malay Literature, Home Science, Visual Arts Education, Business and Chinese.
