DBKU the first local authority to have own online radio station

KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission ( DBKU) is the first local authority to have its own online radio station, following its soft launching at the commission’s headquarte­rs here yesterday .

Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Abdul Wahab Abang Julai said the station – known as Radio Kuching Utara (radioKU) – aimed to be the main communicat­ions channel between local government and those residing in areas under its jurisdicti­on.

“The radioKU, with the tagline ‘Kusss… Semangat!’, is available on DBKU’s official website https://dbku.sarawak.gov.my, or downloadab­le via Google Play,” he said during a press conference c on the soft launch.

He said the online radio station would be officially launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg this March 27, in conjunctio­n with the ‘Old Kuching Smart Heritage Agenda’ event at Kuching Waterfront.

Among the interestin­g segments to be covered by the station are ‘tazkirah’ (morning motivation­al talk), ‘ Hello Kuching!’, ‘ Poret Lok!’ and ‘DBKU Bersama Anda’ – all running from 8am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays.

The station would feature DJ Sheema Dean, DJ Yus, DJ Raj, DJ SB, DJ Sha, DJ Shah, DJ AJ, DJ Sab, DJ Faz and DJ Is.

“The radioKU will officially be aired on April 1. I hope the public would utilise the station to communicat­e with DBKU. This is part of DBKU’s strategy of providing the best service to the city folk,” Abang Abdul Wahab said.

The press conference were also attended by DBKU director Dr Morshidi Ahmad and Community Service Department deputy director Hasbi Suhaili.
