Group chief executive officer Datu Sharbini Suhaili said these childcare centres at the workplace will be in Miri, Sibu, Bintulu and also Bakun during the launch of SEB’s first childcare centre at the workplace, known as ‘ Little Power Genius’ ( LPG) at Menara Sarawak Energy here.
“I am confident this initiative will contribute to the betterment of talents, especially our women in Sarawak Energy, and at the same time, attract more young talents to join us,” he said at the event yesterday.
Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah officiated at the ceremony.
Sharbini said LPG had been operating at Menara Sarawak Energy since last December to meet the needs of children aged three months to four years. It can accommodate a maximum of 40 children.
“So far, SEB has received encouraging feedback from parents about LPG, but there are many aspects that need to be improved,” said Sharbini.
According to him, the LPG was established under the corporation’s ‘High Performance Culture’with the goal of making SEB the best place to work.
“This childcare centre is one of our efforts to provide our talents with a good support system so they choose to stay and participate in the company’s development programme,” he said, adding that up to about 20 per cent of the group’s workforce comprises women.
He also stressed that Sarawak Energy practises gender equality, and takes into account the specific needs of women at work.
