SMK Sacred Heart’s top scorers say results beyond expectations

-

SIBU: Several SMK Sacred Heart’s top Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) scorers in last year’s examination have described their results as beyond their expectations.

Jose Emiliano Uzaraga who obtained 9A+ and one A said it was a big surprise to him.

“I had never expected it,” he told reporters after getting his result slip here on Thursday.

Jose, who was on cloud nine, said he had yet to decide whether to continue to Form Six or not. “I’ll make up my mind by this week,” he quickly added.

Asked on what advice he would give his juniors who will be sitting for their SPM this year, Jose said there was no shortcut to attaining excellent academic results.

“One must persevere no matter how tough the going is. If you stop half way (due to challenges), that is when you fail,” he said.

Another top student Dennis Wong Zhuang Hao who scored 9A+ and two As, also said his result had come as a big surprise to him.

“Because in school, the most I got was four A+ . Getting 9A+ and two As is beyond my expectation.”

Wong said he has no intention to continue to Form Six as he aspired to become a teacher and wanted to pursue a degree in teaching.

Jonas Ting Wenbin who scored 8A+, one A and two A-, said he hoped to get a scholarship to continue his tertiary education in biotechnology.

Like Wong, Ting has no intention to enter Form Six.

Asked for tips on how to do well in exams, he said students need to pay attention in class and always heed teachers’ advice.
