Lodge school celebrates excellent 2018 SPM results

KUCHING: Lodge National Secondary School felt proud that its Class of 2018 has outdone themselves in the 2018 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) examinatio­ns.

Not only has the school’s average grade (GPS) improved from 2.38 to 2.26, the school also recorded a four-fold increase in straight A students where 28 had achieved straight A’s in all their nine subjects which meant that one out of four students had achieved straight A’s.

According to a press release, English Language remains as the school’s niche subject at 92.6 per cent, Mathematic­s at 87 per cent, Biology 72 per cent, Physics 68.3 per cent, Chemistry 67 per cent and History 65.7 per cent.

Joey Chua Shi Yin is one of the top scorers. She was the Chess Club president, a prefect, Red Crescent member, and a netball player. She hopes to pursue a career in dentistry.

Another top scorer, Bryan Brkat, was an exco member of the Prefectori­al Board, activity chief for the Scouts juggling his time with other activities such as Chess Club and Interact Club.

He is currently pursuing his A-Levels at Lodge Internatio­nal School.

Tsan Jian Feng on the other hand, was not only a top scorer, but also obtained straight A* for the Summer 2018 Cambridge IGCSE. He is currently pursuing his ALevel studies at St. Andrews Junior College in Singapore, under the prestigiou­s Asean Scholarshi­p.

Head prefect Asilah Marini Arip is another all-rounder whom the school is very proud of. Asilah is currently pursuing her A-Levels at Oxford Internatio­nal College, United Kingdom.

Head prefect, Clement Yong Jing Cheng, is also another SPM top scorer who is celebratin­g his straight A* achievemen­t in the Summer 2018 Cambridge IGCSE. He is currently pursuing his ALevels at Concorde College, United Kingdom.

The school is also extremely proud of one of its star athletes Dana River Yu Ping Sing. She is currently pursuing her A- Level studies at Lodge Internatio­nal School.

Meanwhile, Lodge Group of Schools director Thomas Huo Kok Sen congratula­ted all students from the Class of 2018 as they had worked very hard and got the results that they rightly deserved.
