IDC Architects brings back PechaKucha Night
KUCHING: IDC Architects is bringing back PechaKucha Night for creative and passionate Kuchingites to share their works and thoughts.
The informal and fun event is scheduled for March 23 at The Granary, Wayang Street here starting 8.20pm. Ten fascinating local speakers are expected to share their ideas with a crowd of 200.
Shusheel Kaur will touch on ‘Journey through culinary’, Joyce Khoo will share thoughts on ‘Story-telling’ and April Lau will talk on ‘Connection between design and musical thinking’.
It is to give the general public a chance to discover what creative people do. It also gives the speakers a platform to tell a story.
Jacqie Ng and Marilyn Ang will share about ‘Bag Design’ and ‘Small Town Art Market’ respectively. Other interesting topics will include ‘Practical sustainability’ by Sangeet Sharma, ‘Journey through graffiti’ by Dewi Miyo, ‘ Preserving Orang Ulu Art’ by Arth Akal, ‘Borneo Art Collective’ by Wendy Teo and ‘Revival of local textiles’ by Edric Ong.
IDC Architects has been hosting PechaKucha Night since 2016, offering a unique platform for both speakers and audience to unearth hidden gems of Cat City.
A mini PechaKucha session that featured Jacqie Ng and Marilyn Ang took place at IDC Architects at Jalan Chan Chin Ann here yesterday.
IDC Architects director Jeffery Yeung said a rich variety of topics can be deliberated at any PechaKucha Nights.
“It is to give the general public a chance to discover what creative people do. It also gives the speakers a platform to tell a story,” he said when met at IDC Architects.
Yeung said the local community ought to realise that there is more to life than work. PechaKucha Night can be an avenue to explore some interesting stuff in the city. Another PechaKucha session will be held this June for high school students in collaboration with a local higher learning institute.
