Gira unimpressed with PSB’s ‘recalcitrant politics’, says GPS needs to act

KUCHING: The rise of Parti Sarawak Bersatu ( PSB) via the enlistment of former Parti Rakyat Sarawak ( PRS) leaders as well as party-less politicians does not impress Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira.

The PRS deputy publicity chief told The Borneo Post that he is in fact puzzled as to PSB’s game play, in that the latter party professes its support for Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg but ‘ pinches’ members or former members of a Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component.

“After reading a statement by PSB president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh in Engkilili, I am puzzled because he says the party supports the government of Chief Minister YAB (Abang Johari).

“At the same time, the PSB appears to have no qualms of taking in a PRS MP, as well as disturbing SUPP and PDP,” he said, referring to Sri Aman MP Datuk Masir Kujat resigning as PRS vice president to join PSB.

After reading a statement by PSB president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh in Engkilili, I am puzzled because he says the party supports the government of Chief Minister YAB (Abang Johari).

People’s Party (SUPP), Progressive Democratic Party ( PDP) and PRS – need to decide soonest whether or not the coalition would work together with PSB.

He said GPS leaders had, on many occasions, indicated their willingness to accept PSB into the coalition, but that the party itself had yet to even submit an application.

“Wong can’t have the best of both worlds. GPS must decide once and for all what to do with PSB. Instead of applying to join GPS, they ( PSB) play recalcitrant politics and disturb GPS parties with impunity,” said Gira.
