Firms hold CSR programme at SK Poyut Baram
MARUDI: Solar Alert and Reservoir Link recently held a Corporate Social Responsibility ( CSR) programme at SK Poyut Baram here in collaboration with Well Intervention & Services Department of Petronas Carigali Sarawak Oil ( PCSB SK Oil) and other business partners; namely Archer Well Company ( M) Sdn Bhd, Setegap Venture Petroleum Sdn Bhd, Deleum Bhd and Appsmiths Technology and Dimension Bid ( M) Sdn Bhd.
Carrying the theme of `Together We Help, Together We Care’, the programme is one of its many CSR initiatives this year.
A total of 51 students, from Primary 1 to 6, participated in the event, and were joined by 47 volunteers from the companies in the activities facilitated by the school teachers.
The morning started with welcoming remarks from Fauzi Ahmad, the senior co- curriculum assistant of SK Puyot, which was followed by speeches from Amin Mumini Muhammad and Eddy Samaile, representatives of Solar Alert Sdn Bhd and PCSB SK Oil, respectively.
In his speech, Amin believed that volunteering programmes such as this would be able to provide valuable experiences for the students while also helping to strengthen the bond between them, build alliances and foster strong working relationships among each other and the community.
The programme then continued with donations to the school from the participating companies. The donations consisted of various school necessities, fitting the aim of the CSR to give to the community.
The highlight of the event was a series of fun and challenging sport activities that ranged from water balloon catching to ping pong ball race, which was participated by both the students and CSR volunteers. The bond between the two different generations was notable through the teamwork displayed and resonating laughter and smiles.
The students’ parents who were present during the visit were delighted to see their children having an enjoyable time throughout the programme while still getting to learn about the working world from the volunteers.
The initiative was met with positive reception, with some participants suggesting that such programmes should be continued, as it brings excitement to the children.
For the volunteers, the visit turned out to be a meaningful and rewarding experience which had a huge impact in terms of providing a new perspective on community service. The contingents departed from SK Puyot in the afternoon to the town of Marudi, before heading to their respective destinations.
