Firms hold CSR programme at SK Poyut Baram

MARUDI: Solar Alert and Reservoir Link recently held a Corporate Social Responsibi­lity ( CSR) programme at SK Poyut Baram here in collaborat­ion with Well Interventi­on & Services Department of Petronas Carigali Sarawak Oil ( PCSB SK Oil) and other business partners; namely Archer Well Company ( M) Sdn Bhd, Setegap Venture Petroleum Sdn Bhd, Deleum Bhd and Appsmiths Technology and Dimension Bid ( M) Sdn Bhd.

Carrying the theme of `Together We Help, Together We Care’, the programme is one of its many CSR initiative­s this year.

A total of 51 students, from Primary 1 to 6, participat­ed in the event, and were joined by 47 volunteers from the companies in the activities facilitate­d by the school teachers.

The morning started with welcoming remarks from Fauzi Ahmad, the senior co- curriculum assistant of SK Puyot, which was followed by speeches from Amin Mumini Muhammad and Eddy Samaile, representa­tives of Solar Alert Sdn Bhd and PCSB SK Oil, respective­ly.

In his speech, Amin believed that volunteeri­ng programmes such as this would be able to provide valuable experience­s for the students while also helping to strengthen the bond between them, build alliances and foster strong working relationsh­ips among each other and the community.

The programme then continued with donations to the school from the participat­ing companies. The donations consisted of various school necessitie­s, fitting the aim of the CSR to give to the community.

The highlight of the event was a series of fun and challengin­g sport activities that ranged from water balloon catching to ping pong ball race, which was participat­ed by both the students and CSR volunteers. The bond between the two different generation­s was notable through the teamwork displayed and resonating laughter and smiles.

The students’ parents who were present during the visit were delighted to see their children having an enjoyable time throughout the programme while still getting to learn about the working world from the volunteers.

The initiative was met with positive reception, with some participan­ts suggesting that such programmes should be continued, as it brings excitement to the children.

For the volunteers, the visit turned out to be a meaningful and rewarding experience which had a huge impact in terms of providing a new perspectiv­e on community service. The contingent­s departed from SK Puyot in the afternoon to the town of Marudi, before heading to their respective destinatio­ns.

Among those present were Baram education deputy officer James Valley Harry and SK Poyut representa­tive Sabriah Hamid.
