KUCHING: More than 25 participants with 85 felines participated in Kuching Cat Fanciers’ Association ( CFA) International Cat Fiesta 2019 held at CityONE Megamall last Saturday.

Organised by a group of cat enthusiasts affi liated with CFA in collaboration with Feline Nation Cat Club (FNCC), Wonder of Natural Origin ( Wono) Cat Food and other private agencies, the international cat show encourages cat lovers to enrol their pets for the competition while sharing experiences.

The cats were divided into pedigree and household cat categories which were further divided into non- championship, championship and premiership.

British Shorthairs, Maine Coons, Persians, Ragdoll and Bengals were seen at the show.

Etsuko Hamayasu of Japan was the invited international judge while former Stampin MP Julian Tan presented prizes to winning cats and lucky draw winners.

“International cat shows and pet expos are very popular in Thailand and Indonesia, attracting many foreign exhibitors and visitors,” said show manager Cheryl Cheah in a press release.

Cheah said in 2015, the CFA show organised by Kuching North City Commission ( DBKU) had brought in exhibitors from Thailand, Indonesia, West Malaysia and Sabah, but things have changed now due to the rabies outbreak.

“We hope the relevant authorities would look into granting easier entry and exit to exhibitors with travelling show cats with valid health documents,” she said.
