Fans surprised as Raymond Lam announces return to TVB

HONG KONG: Fans were pleasantly surprised when singer- actor Raymond Lam, 39, suddenly announced his return to TVB on Sunday.

He hopes to appear in a new TVB drama later this year.

Explaining his abrupt return, Raymond said: “Over the past five years I’ve been consistently meeting up and hanging out with my former TVB colleagues. They would always ask me when I’d return. My decision to return stems from the projects that had been pitched to me. It was also fate that led me to this decision. I look forward to work with my old colleagues again. It’s exciting.”

Raymond, who had left Emperor Entertainment Group in 2017, has also signed up with TVB’s record label, Voice Entertainment.

His last drama for TVB was Line Walker, which had aired in 2014. After leaving TVB, he worked on TV dramas for audiences in mainland China.

Last year, he signed with Louis Koo’s management agency Sky High Entertainment. On his career trajectory, Raymond disclosed: “I came across a couple of good scripts in 2018, so I was able to play the characters I’ve always wanted to try. Like this time ( P Storm), I was able to take a stab at playing a villain, and the character’s schizophrenic and bipolar. The role allowed

me to release the fire that’s been burning inside of me, letting the audience in on another side of me.”

But Raymond was cautious about not overdoing it when it came to appearing as an evil character.

He explained: “Since the role’s evilness is more external, I had to carefully control it, otherwise it would be too much. I have to allow the audience to watch it comfortably.”

Overall, Raymond has been pleased with what he had been doing since last year. His mind is still buzzing from the new things he has been trying out.

Added Raymond: “Because I tried so much in 2018, I was feeling a bit lost at the start of 2019. If you ask me what other characters I want to try playing, I can’t think of any because I really got to satisfy my addiction to acting last year.”
