SEBUYAU: Sixteen projects have been approved in Sebuyau constituency this year under the Rural T ransformat ion Programme ( RTP).

Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi said among the projects are a pentaque field, futsal court, community halls and upgrading of suraus.

On Monday, he visited eight of the projects, having visited the others in January this year.

He said he was satisfied with the progress of the projects, including the 14 projects which were approved last year.

“Visiting the projects in the area is our routine duty to ensure that they are progressing well and also to receive firsthand feedback from the people,” Ju l a ihi , who i s S ebuyau assemblyman, said.

RTP is the brainchild of the late Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem in 2014 to speed up development in rural areas.

Under the programme, every state assemblyman is allocated RM5 million, not in the form of cash, but total project cost in their respective areas.

Julaihi said a commit tee - Sebuyau RTP commit tee comprising heads of departments in Samarahan division and Simunjan district - has been formed to monitor the projects.

Present during the visit was Sarawak administrative officer ( SAO) from Sebuyau sub- district, Ajis Ahmad.
